Start of the Annual Kendal Torchlight Carnival

The 'A' parade, consisting of classic vehicles, will set off first. They will be moving at a slightly faster speed to prevent overheating problems and will run several minutes ahead of the second part of the parade.

The 'B' parade - featuring:

  • Bygone Bikes - back to the days of Penny farthings and boneshakers with costumed riders.
  • Dancers - teams of traditional country and folk dancers.
  • Gentle Giants - teams of heavy and working horses with drays from the 1900s.
  • Steam Engines - large and miniature, puffing with pride and nostalgia around the historic market town.
  • Spectacular Floats - decorated with this year's theme.
  • Marching, Pipe and Display bands from across the United Kingdom - featuring nationally acclaimed carnival groups - PRESTON CITY CARRIBEAN CARNIVAL TOURING BAND, THE BARRACUDAS, COVENTRY CARNIVAL BAND, BAY BEAT, NOTTINGHAM CARNIVAL BAND and POCO LOCO BLACKPOOL SCHOOL OF SAMBA.
